Cheaply made / low quality, but VERY soft Feb 21, 2011

Upon receiving the shirt, I inspected it and all seemed well. As I do with almost every new item of clothing I purchase, I washed it before wearing it the first time. That is when the problems appeared. The stitching that held two pleats in place completely came unsewn from top to bottom. Additionally, it was now obvious that the tag at the back of the shirt was poorly ironed on and had been trying to cover an older, smaller tag that had been removed (stitching holes and a small tear were easily seen underneath the current, larger tag).
To its credit, this shirt feels wonderful on the skin. I only wish it had been crafted to hold up to at least a few episodes of laundering. Tuxedo shirts are generally not considered disposable after one use.
One last thing: while the shirt is able to be worn with studs and cuff-links (or with buttons that are sewn in place), it was disappointing that the cuffs are not French.
Washing it in a laundry bag (as if it was delicate lace) might help it stay intact, but this kind of care should not be needed with a man's shirt.
